Interactive performance art is one of the most literal forms of artistic execution. Concepts for this series are taken from techniques of contemporary choreography paired with surface illustration as a means of fine art. Unlike ballet or most contemporary works, Performance X Print is entirely improvised, enhancing the connection between physical movements, the essence of mediums and deepened sense of spirituality.

Performance X Print embodies fluid expression through an unvarnished form of physical and emotional release. These processes are equally liberating as much as they are experimental.

Charcoal

Film One was created with contemporary movements from training in modern dance and floor work.

In holding charcoal with each hand - and both toes- the process resulted in a symmetrical matrix of squiggles and swirls. This abstraction is completely unique in contrast to Film Two and Film Three.

White Tempura

The black paper is a strikingly unexpected choice in contrast to the white tempura paint.

This paper was more slick, allowing for a more fluid series of improvised movement. The result is more orbital and muddled in which the outer rings emerge as an unintentional frame to the composition.

Black Tempura

The contrast achieved with black tempura paint on white paper is strikingly bold.

Using a single brush occasionally dipped in the paint tin, the balance of fluid movement and dynamic print is conceived on the canvas.
